The Welcome Weekend Captains

Welcome Home, Flaherty First Years!

Hi everyone! Our names are Emma Gentine and Caitlin Zaragosa, and we are very excited to be your Welcome Weekend Captains this year! We are so excited to welcome you to Flaherty Hall, the newest dorm on campus. We hope you’ll find this booklet to be a huge help, and inside you can find a “Domer Dictionary” with commonly used terms and a packing checklist (even though there’s always that ONE thing we all seem to forget).

A little about Emma Gentine: I’m a junior Accounting major with a minor in actuarial science. I am from Howards Grove, Wisconsin.

A little about Caitlin Zaragosa: I’m a junior Business Analytics and Arabic double major. I am from Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.

We are SO excited to welcome you all into Flaherty Hall  this August! We both have loved our time in Flaherty, and we are so excited to welcome you into our community next year! Flaherty will be one of the newest buildings on campus next year, along with the new men’s dorm, Dunne Hall, and the new research building, McCourtney Hall. We’re affectionately referring to ourselves as the “Flaher Bears.”  The Flaherty community has so many opportunities to offer, and there’s something for everyone to get involved in, whether it be through sports, service, music, or something else!

We know these first few weeks can be overwhelming (and yes, everyone is feeling that way too!), but there are so many people here that are willing to help you along the way! One piece of advice we can share is to try new things; try something you’re scared of and try something new! Also, don’t be afraid to change your mind; college is the perfect time to find out more about yourself and to develop yourself into the person you want to be! Just remember to breathe and take it one step at a time. You've made it this far and you have so much further to go!

We can’t wait to meet you soon! If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email (egentine@nd.edu or czaragos@nd.edu) or by phone (920-912-3758 or 423-598-1050).
